Crise de opióides

Drug trafficking and the opioid crisis continue to ravage our families and strain our communities. As District Attorney, I have instructed my prosecutors to aggressively pursue pretrial detention of drug traffickers under the "dangerousness" statute, a strategy commonly used across the Commonwealth but rarely employed on the Cape and Islands under previous administrations.

Understanding opioid use as a mental and behavioral health disorder, my office also prioritizes expansion of access to treatment through in-patient care, outside counseling, and holistic community-based recovery support. I have worked with the Courts to establish a Recovery Court on Martha's Vineyard and secured a 3-year $1,000,000 grant from Cape Cod Healthcare to establish and implement Compassionate Connections, an innovative project that leverages the existing Critical Information Management System to provide post-incident rapid response connections to behavioral and mental healthcare, social services, and other providers addressing social determinants of health.
